It was Sunday ––– the day of Vaidehi and Raghav's first meeting...

~ 𝗔𝘁 𝗩𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗵𝗶'𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲

Everyone was busy , Sunanda and Vaidehi were preparing nashta for the guests while Shankar and Rohit were keeping the house , they were cleaning the sofa and arranging the sofa sets...

"Sunanda.. Hua ki nahi tumhara nashta banana ? vo log kisi bhi waqt aate hi honge" Shankar asked from living room

" Ha ha bass ho gaya " Sunanda said while wiping her hands with kitchen cloth..

" Chal beta baaki sab main dekh leti hoon tu jaake jaldi ready ho ja " Sunanda said to Vaidehi who was making Kanda Poha..

" Haa Aai thik hai , main jaldi se ready ho jaati hoon " Vaidehi said and went to her room to get ready...

Sunanda kept a plate on the container in which Kanda Poha was being made and turned off the gas.. after doing everything in the kitchen she came out in the living room..

Shankar and Rohit were tired sitting on the sofa until –––

" Aree aap log kya aaram kar rahe hain.. vo log kisi bhi waqt aate hi honge.. jaldi tayyar ho jaaiye" Sunanda said.

"Ha ha bass jaa rahe hain Aai" Rohit said

Now everyone left to get ready for the meeting...

The Deshmukhs were warmly welcomed in Joshi house.. Everyone came to see their 𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘪 𝘉𝘢𝘩𝘶...

The aroma of freshly made tea and snacks filled the air. Shankar and Sunanda welcomed the guests with warm smiles. Vaidehi, nervous yet graceful, sat quietly inside her room while her brother tried to calm her down.

“Namaste, aaiye-aaiye… Swagat hai aapka. Safar mein zyada takleef to nahi hui?” Shankar welcomed the Deshmukh family with a warm smile.

“Arre bilkul nahi, Shankarji. Aapka ghar to asaan se mil gaya. Bas thoda traffic tha.” Madhav said.

"Ji ab Mumbai sheher mein agar sabse badi koi chiz hai to vo hai traffic" Shankar said making everyone laugh.

“Aap log thak gaye honge… chai le aati hoon.” Sunanda said and went into the kitchen to bring tea.

Sunanda brings tea and serves everyone..

" Ji, yeh mera beta Raghav " Madhav said while showing hands towards Raghav.

Shankar looks at Raghav with a smile..

"Beta kaha tak padhe ho aur ab kya kar rahe ho ?" Shankar asked Raghav

" Ji uncle maine MBBS.MD kiya hai aur main Pediatrician hoon , vo kya hai na mujhe bachhe bohot pasand hai " Raghav said with a smile

" wahh bohot achhi baat hain beta " Shankar said with a proud smile..

" Bas kaam hi kaam , ladki ko samjhane ka bhi patience rakhna padega " Vishwanath teased Raghav , everyone laughed seeing his face..

'Vaise aap logon ko hamari Vaidehi se baat karni hai? Main use bulaati hoon…" Sunanda said.

Vaidehi walks in slowly with a tray in which plates of Kanda Poha were arranged , her eyes lowered.. She served everyone and She greets everyone with folded hands..

She then went to her mother to sit beside her but Savita called her –––

" Aree beta yaha aake baitho mere pass " Savita said smiling warmly

Vaidehi went to Savita and sat beside her..

" Bohot pyaari beti hai aapki " Savita said while keeping her hand over Vaidehi's head.. Vaidehi smiled shyly and lowered her eyes..

"Beta kya padhai ki hai ?" Anuradha asked Vaidehi , who was sitting beside Vishwanath..

"Jii.. Maine B.A kiya hai aur ab main primary school teacher hoon " Vaidehi said shyly..

" Chalo achhi baat hai dono ki jobs bachho se related hai to future mein koi problem nahi hogi " Vishwanath said teasing Both

Vaidehi and Raghav smiled shyly and lowered their heads...

The elders exchanged knowing glances that now it's time to send their kids so that they can talk alone for sometime...

" Achha to bachho tum log akele mein baat karke dekh lo " Madhav said.

They both got up silently, Raghav followed Vaidehi , they both came to Vaidehi's room..

A soft silence lingers. Vaidehi adjusts her dupatta nervously while Raghav sits across from her, trying to ease the tension.

"Thoda awkward lag raha hoga na? Mujhe bhi aisa hi lag raha hai."Raghav said smiling lightly

Vaidehi gives a shy nod, her eyes lowered.

"Maine suna aap primary school teacher ho… bacchon ke saath kaam karke kaisa lagta hai?" Raghav asked.

" Ji… accha lagta hai. Bacchon ki masoomiyat dekh kar din ka sara thakaan chala jaata hai. Aap?" Vaidehi said gaining a little confidence

"Main pediatrician hoon… bacchon ka doctor. Mujhe bhi wohi lagta hai. Unki chhoti hasi, unka pyaar… lagta hai jaise life ka asli sukh wahi hai." Raghav said with pride but a gentle tone.

Vaidehi looks up for a second, surprised, then smiles faintly. Their eyes meet briefly before she looks down again.

"Aap bahut shant aur seedhi lagti hain… mujhe aisi hi partner ki zarurat thi, jo ghar ko sukoon aur pyar se bhar de." Raghav said softly noticing her shyness.

Vaidehi blushes, unable to respond immediately. She just nods slightly, her lips curving into a shy smile.

A brief silence follows, but it feels comfortable now. Outside, both families laugh and chat, unaware of the quiet bond beginning to form inside the room.

~ 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

The guests had left after chai and warm conversations. The house grew quiet, but Vaidehi’s mind was still racing with thoughts of Raghav—his calm voice, the way he spoke about children, and the way he smiled at her.

Sunanda gently knocked on her daughter’s door and stepped in with Shankar.

"Beta… rishtedaar chale gaye. Ab sach-sach bata… tujhe Raghav kaisa laga?" Sunanda softly said sitting beside Vaidehi

Vaidehi, still nervous, keeps her eyes lowered. Her fingers fidget with her dupatta. Shankar looks at her patiently.

"Dekho Vaidehi… faisla tumhara hai. Hum kisi par dabav nahi dalenge. Jo tumhe pasand ho, wahi hoga." Shankar said calmly

Vaidehi swallows hard, her cheeks turning pink. After a pause, she finally speaks.

"Unhone… bahut pyaar se baat ki. Bacchon ke bare mein jis tarah bol rahe the… mujhe laga unke dil mein sach mein ek narmi hai. Aur… vo bilkul ghamand nahi kar rahe the apni padhai ya profession ka. Mujhe… accha laga." Vaidehi said in low , shy voice

Sunanda smiles warmly and caresses Vaidehi’s hair.

"Bas, mujhe bhi laga tum dono ek jaise ho. Tum teacher, vo doctor… dono bacchon se juda hua kaam karte ho. Dil mil jaye to hi rishta banta hai." Sunanda said

Shankar nods in agreement, his eyes softening.

"Beta, agar tujhe yeh rishta pasand hai, to hum aage badhaye?" Shankar asked

Vaidehi’s lips curve into the faintest smile. She lowers her gaze again and whispers softly.

Vaidehi:

"𝗝𝗶 𝗕𝗮𝗯𝗮..."

Sunanda and Shankar exchange a relieved, happy glance. For the first time that day, Vaidehi’s nervous heart feels a little lighter...

~ 𝗔𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗴𝗵𝗮𝘃'𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲

The entire Deshmukh family was gathered in the living room. The air was buzzing with curiosity. Cups of tea lay forgotten on the table because everyone’s attention was on one person—Raghav.

"Raghav, ab to bata bhi de… Vaidehi kaisi lagi? Humein to bas tujhi ka intezaar hai." Savita asked Raghav impatiently

"Haan beta, itna chup-chap rehne se kaam nahi chalega. Ghar ke sab log jawab chahte hain." Madhav said smiling, adjusting his glasses

" Arey, ladke ne ladki dekhi aur ghar aake statue ban gaya! Kuch to bol re Raghav." Vishnu Kaka said grinning

Anu Kaku chuckles and nudges Priya, Raghav’s bhabhi, who is already giggling with little Arohi on her lap.

Priya (teasing):

"Bolo na devarji… Vaidehi bhabhi kaisi hain? Arohi ko to maasi milne ka intezaar hai." Priya said teasing Raghav

"Kaka , mujhe Vaidehi Kaku chahiye!" Arohi said innocently clapping her hands

The whole room bursts into laughter. Raghav runs a hand through his hair, looking slightly embarrassed.

"Bhai, sach sach batao… ladki dekhte hi pyaar ho gaya kya?" Akash (Raghav's younger cousin brother) said with a smirk

"Haan haan… Vaidehi Vahini to seedhi-saadhi lag rahi thi. Bhai ke gusse ko kaise sambhalengi?" Pooja (Akash twin sister) said giggling

Raghav narrows his eyes playfully at them, but a faint smile escapes.

"Beta… hum mazaak kar rahe hain lekin faisla tumhara hai. Tumhe Vaidehi pasand aayi ya nahi?" Savita said softly yet curiously

Raghav grows serious for a moment, his eyes thoughtful. He finally speaks, his voice calm but with a softness the family rarely hears.

"Vaidehi… mujhe bahut acchi lagi. Simple, shant… aur bacchon ke saath jo lagav hai uska, wahi mujhe sabse zyada pasand aaya. Mujhe lagta hai… vo mere liye sahi hai." Raghav said calmly yet lovingly remembering his moments with Vaidehi.

A hush falls for a moment, then Savita’s eyes glisten with relief. Priya squeals in delight, hugging Arohi tightly.

Lo sun lo sab! Ab to tay hai—hamari Vaidehi aane wali hai is ghar mein." Priya said excitedly

Arohi claps again, shouting “Vaidehi Kaku!” while Akash and Pooja whistle and tease Raghav mercilessly. Vishnu Kaka pats his shoulder proudly, and Anu Kaku brings a plate of sweets.

The Deshmukh house fills with laughter, excitement, and the sweet feeling that a new member is soon going to join their family.
